Bailey Zimmerman and Stella Lefty wrote "My Kinda Love" during a single unplanned writing session in Los Angeles. The duet is set for release on October 23 and will appear in season 3 of Netflix's Nobody Wants This. Zimmerman described the track's path as an unexpected one, moving from a casual studio day to a streaming series in roughly a year.
From a Random Session to a Streaming Placement
According to Zimmerman, the two first met almost a year ago in Los Angeles, when a mutual contact invited him to write with Lefty on a day he had nothing else scheduled. The pair finished "My Kinda Love" that day and then held the song back for months. Netflix later heard the track and asked to use it in the show, which gave the artists a fixed release point for a song they had not planned to rush.
Other Music in the Pipeline
The duet is not Zimmerman's only current project. His most recent album, Different Night Same Rodeo, came out last summer, and he has been posting studio teasers on social media. He has said some of the new songs will be released "soon," and he described his approach as writing without a fixed plan, a method he says produces rawer material.
A Benefit Concert for Rescue Dogs
Zimmerman's comments were made ahead of his headlining set at the third annual Wags & Walks Benefit Concert, which supports an organization that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes dogs. The lineup also included a video message from Dan + Shay and performances by Fancy Hagood, Just Jayne, Dylan Conrique, Lanie Gardner and Jesse Solomon. Zimmerman, who owns two golden retrievers, said the event offered a practical way to support rescue work that he could not do alone.
